Workplace learning and development programs (also known as L&D) are so hot right now. 🔥 Employees want them, but employers don't always see their value. 🤔
Aside from those cringey mandatory trainings from the witches over in HR, some companies think anything above and beyond is a waste of time. ⌛ A new survey dug into what employees and bosses really think about learning and development. We've got the results right here. 👇
Here’s Five Fast Facts on workplace learning and development programs:
- 🧠 Knowledge Is Power - The survey polled 800 executives as well as 800 employees. According to the results, 84% of employees expect their employer to provide the training and education they need to keep their skills sharp as skill sets change within their industry.
- 🙄 A Bunch of Fluff - On the flip side, 51% of the executives surveyed said their current L&D programs feel like a big ol' time waster.
- 🧐 Should I Stay - Over three-quarters of employees surveyed said they’d stay put at their current company long-term if they offered a better training and development program.
- 🏃 Or Should I Go - While 39% of employees said they'd leave within a year for a job with better training, more than half said they'd rather continue developing skills that would set them up for future opportunities at their current jobs.
- 🤖 Here Come the Robots - Surveyed executives estimated that 49% of the skills in their current workforce won’t be relevant in 2025. Additionally, 47% said their workforces aren't prepared for the future of work. Sounds like the joke's on the head honchos. According to the Microsoft Work Trend Index, 82% of executives will need to develop AI skills to prepare for the future.
🔥Bottom line: Let's face it, AI is going to be part of everyone's job eventually. It's probably time for companies to start preparing with some top notch training. The people have spoken.
