Woah! There’s Activity in the FoxConn Plant!

Did I just see devils throwing snowballs? Because something is actually being manufactured in the Foxconn plant!

Here’s Five Fast Facts about Foxconn Activity in Wisconsin:

  1. 🔋🙂Who Goes There? - Enphase Energy, a company out of California, recently said Foxconn is one of its contract producers.
  2. ☀️ What Are They Making? - They’re making microinverters, which is an important part of solar panels. Enphase even produced this banger of a video to show off their work in the facility. I’m surprised by the lack of shots featuring dudes standing and pointing at stuff.
  3. 🚢 Is This a Big Deal? - Enphase is also using a company in South Carolina named Flex. Both companies have shipped a total of 50,000 units. However, Foxconn isn’t saying how many they’ve produced.
  4. ⛔ Cool! More Jobs, Right? - This is Foxconn we’re talking about and because FoxConn is gonna FoxConn, it should be noted that zero jobs were created as a part of this agreement.
  5. 🖊️ Fine Print - Remember: FoxConn has to have a total of 1,454 jobs by the end of 2025 in order to get a $19.7M tax credit. When the project originally started, they were going to create 13,000 jobs. My math isn’t very good, but I think that’s 90% less than what was promised.

🔥Bottom line: It’s hard not to be cynical with FoxConn news of any kind. They’re bandits. A lot of people warned the state they are bandits. At the end of the day, it’s the residents of Mount Pleasant who are suffering the most from all of this. Hopefully we can find a way to clean up this mess.
