Will Thanksgiving Be Cheaper This Year?

Let’s talk turkey! Thanksgiving is just days away and the cost of all that food is going to rack up quickly. But you may be surprised that it might cost less than you think.

Here’s Five Fast Facts about Thanksgiving Meal Prices:

  1. 🦃 Gobble Gobble - One of the bigger surprises is the big bird. Turkey prices are lower this year, with a 16-pound turkey costing $27.35, which is a 5.6% decrease from last year. However, that price is 30% higher than in 2019.
  2. 🥫 Linger - The biggest price decrease? Cranberries. They’ve dropped a whopping 18%. Saucy.
  3. 🍞 Gimme That Bread - There are some price increases. Pumpkin pie mix and dinner rolls increased by 3.8% and 3.0%, respectively. Of course it’s the good stuff.
  4. 🥧 Table for 10 - Overall, the average cost of a dinner for 10 will be $61.17, which is down 4.5% from last year.
  5. 🍗 Geography - That average varies based on where you eat, though. The least expensive food region is the Midwest at $58.66, followed by the South at $59.10 and the West at $59.10. The Northeast tops the list at $64.38.

🔥Bottom line: Even though we’re looking at small percentages here, you’re still paying less than last year. Is that a sign that the economy is starting to stabilize or is this just another one of those weird economic flukes we’ve seen over the past few years.?
