If you’re looking for a great high paying job in the Seattle area, you’ve got lots of good options. We’re known for high tech, but that’s not the only way to land good money. If you don’t have the education or background, or if you aren’t into working with computers and code, then check out construction!
Here are Five Fast Facts on construction jobs in Seattle:
- 🤝 Join The PACT - Funded by the city of Seattle and executed by Seattle Central College, the Pre-Apprentice Construction Trade Program, known as PACT, is an 11-week program where students earn their way into a state-approved construction or trade apprenticeship.
- 💰 The Big Bucks - The PACT program is free to students, and graduates will typically earn over $30/hour once they land their first trade or construction job. Not too shabby for an 11-week prep time!
- ✔️ The Requirements - To enter the program, you have to be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Even those with criminal records are allowed in.
- 🎓 Getting Out - The PACT program runs four times each year, with about 18 students in each cycle. The program has a graduation rate of 74%.
- 🏗️ The Bigger Picture - This is great news! What makes it even better is the fact that there is a shortage of construction workers and skilled tradesmen in the area, and that the state has dumped hundreds of millions of dollars toward construction projects. Talk about being in the right place at the right time!
🔥Bottom line: Programs like these are super important to helping fill the needs for workers in the city and state! And hey, who doesn’t want a job paying over $30/hour? Those are some damn good Paychecks, and we always love to see that!
