Working from home today? Don’t forget to prop up the cardboard cutout of yourself on that Zoom call with the team. 😆👤
Companies everywhere are dragging employees out of their cozy remote work set up back into the office. 🏢 According to new data, it looks like they’re paying a pretty penny to get butts into cubicles. 💰
Here’s Five Fast Facts on higher salaries for office workers:
- 💸 Cubicle Cash - Would you get out of your pajamas for a bigger paycheck? According to data from ZipRecruiter, companies offered an average yearly salary of $82,037 for fully in-person roles in March 2024. That’s up over 33% from last year’s average salary of $59,085.
- 🧑💻 Where’s the Remote? - Compared to hybrid and fully remote jobs, the in-office ones pay significantly more. The average salary for hybrid work is $59,992 and $75,327 for fully remote roles.
- 🔄 The OI’ Switcheroo - The ZipRecruiter data also revealed that workers who traded their fully remote jobs for in-office gigs in 2023 received a 29.2% bump in pay. That’s almost double that experienced by people who gave up the office to work remotely.
- 💼 Office Space - Why do employers care so much about bringing peeps back into the office? Some believe that being in the office makes workers more productive, which in their eyes makes a pay bump worth the expense. Many are also tied to hefty corporate real estate expenses. If they’re stuck in a lease for a fancy office, it can’t be empty.
- 🛋️ King of the Couch - Even though bosses want employees back in the office, there’s no sign of the remote life drying up anytime soon. ZipRecruiter’s data for March 2024 showed around 33% of posted professional and business-service jobs in the US are hybrid or remote.
