We've been talking about the new Ohio Intel plant for quite some time. 🏭 The company's big wigs are now calling the surrounding area the "Silicon Heartland". 🧑‍💻 How cute!

It's no secret the tech giant has big plans for its state-of-the-art location, but what's a guy or gal gotta do to work there? 🧐

Local colleges are teaming up with Intel to train skilled workers for new positions. 🎓 Sound intriguing? Keep reading to get the inside info…or should we say INTEL? We're here all night, folks.

 

Here’s Five Fast Facts on how to get a job at the new Intel plant:

  1. 👜 Career Day - Intel’s pumping over $20 billion into their new plant. The giant new operation is expected to create 3,000 long-term positions within manufacturing, engineering, computer science, and business. A lil' somethin' for everyone.
  1. 🎒 Welcome to Miami - Earlier this year, Miami University in Oxford announced a partnership with Intel. It's part of the Ohio-southwest Alliance on Semiconductors and Integrated Scalable-Manufacturing headed up by the University of Cincinnati. Over 80 institutions across Ohio are also on board.
  1. 🧑‍🎓 A Community Effort - Community colleges are in on the fun, too. Sinclair Community College, Clark State College, and Edison State Community College will include programs to train people to work at Intel and other semiconductor factories. 
  1. 🏫 Campus Corner - Participating state universities include Central State and Wright State. Central State also has scholarships and internships available.
  1. 🔜 Coming Soon - Officials at Intel say they expect the new plant to be up and running with workers sometime in 2025.

🔥Bottom line: If you're interested and qualify, you might be entitled to a scholarship to one of these programs through Choose Ohio First. Scholarships are available to students who plan to get a certificate in an in-demand job field in the state, and they're available for all kinds of degrees!
