Not even Paul Revere could have seen these robots coming! 🐎🤖 With AI and automation blowing up like never before, maybe we should all mount up and warn the townsfolk!? 📢
A 2018 study predicted that 400 million people worldwide could be out of a job before 2030, thanks to AI. So, how are things looking here in 2023?
Here’s Five Fast Facts about AI and jobs :
- 🖥️ The Robots Are Coming! - According to a recent report, an estimated 300 million jobs could be impacted by AI. That means about 18% of work around the world could be automated.
- 🪙 Finance Bros Beware - Researchers say AI will impact the finance industry in the following ways: job cuts, job creation, and increased efficiency. Many banks are already using AI tech to monitor transactions and organize data behind the scenes. It's also been predicted that by 2027, 23% of jobs within China's financial sector will be replaced by AI.
- 📰 Machine Marketing - AI tools like QuillBot and ChatGPT are creating quite a stir in the marketing and media worlds. In January, BuzzFeed's CEO announced that ChatGPT would be used to make content more personal for readers. One scientist recently told the BBC that they believe 90% of news will be written by robots in 15 years! However, the bots are also known for writing false information, so we're still gonna need that human touch.
- ⚖️ Not Exactly Street Legal - Move over, Elle Woods! AI could be a real problem solver in the legal world, and that might be a good thing. According to a 2022 report, low-income Americans don’t get enough legal help (or any at all) for 92% of their civil legal issues. Cheaper AI solutions could replace some of those stuffy lawyers in the high rises downtown. AI-based legal services are starting to pop up, like Lawgeex which can apparently read contracts faster and more accurately than humans.
- 🩺 No Robot Docs (For Now) - Jobs in manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare are the most AI-proof, according to the data. While AI will bring improvements in these industries, it seems like humans are still better at getting the job done.
🔥Bottom line: People are a little bit spooked about the robots moving in, but we should also look on the bright side. Yes, AI will definitely replace some jobs, but it will also make a bunch of other jobs a lot easier and potentially cut down on burnout. And at the end of the day, humans will always want to hear from other humans. Don't tell your robot bestie.
