Shhh! The Latest On The "Quiet Quitting" Trend

What's the deal with "quiet quitting"? 🤫 Is it when you tiptoe out of your office forever without telling anyone? Or maybe it's whispering the words, "I'm outta' here" in your manager's ear as you swiftly run away! 🏃🏻

👨🏻‍💻Actually, it's neither of those things. In fact, “Quiet Quitters” say the whole movement is more about having healthy workplace boundaries and less about actually leaving your job.

How does that work? (pun intended.)

Here’s Five Fast Facts on the trend of "quiet quitting":

  1. ☎️ Phoning It In - Quiet quitting is another way of saying, "I'm going to do the bare minimum at work". It's becoming a way for people to do exactly what they're paid to do and nothing more.
  2. 🤳🏾 Going Viral - Videos about quiet quitting are getting millions of views on TikTok. The phrase's hashtag now has over 3.9 million views. Is there a dance to go with it?
  3. 🚫 No Fun Zone - According to a new study, employee engagement in the U.S. and Canada is at 33%. This means only about 1 in 3 workers are really doing their max effort. Companies are going to need a lot more than free pizza lunches to fix this one.
  4. 👋🏼 Treat Me Better - Another survey reported that almost half of Gen Z employees want to leave their jobs within the next two years. The reasons? Low pay, mental health issues, and burnout. Backpacking around Europe was probably also on the list.
  5. 🚼 From Boomers to Zoomers - Today, Millennials and Gen Z make up 46% of the U.S. workforce. So, the other, older 54% of workers are probably #overit #annoyed, but the kids are here to stay!

🔥Bottom line: Quiet quitting is all the rage and the great news is...there's no actual rage required! Doing the bare minimum might piss off your boss, but it can also help keep burnout away, right? Besides, if a company wants their employees to go above and beyond, they're gonna have to make it worth their while. Employers have to either step it up...or clear out a conference room for TikTok-ers.
