Searching for a New Job? Check Your Soft Skills

Sure, we know you can do the job backwards, with your eyes closed, from a remote corner of the Multiverse. 🌟👷 What's your soft skills game like? 🤔

According to recruiters and hiring managers, a person's soft skills play a big part in whether or not you get hired for a new gig. 🤝 Soft skills are more people-focused than actual on-the-job skills. They include things like leadership potential, communication, and how well you play with others in the sandbox (or cubicle farm). 🖥️

Here’s Five Fast Facts on soft skills and how to use them to your advantage:

  1. 💰 Soft Skills Pay (Literally) - A recent job market study says soft skills have a significant impact on hiring decisions for 93% of employers.
  1. 🤖 The Human Touch - Worried about the robots coming for your day job? Have no fear. Experts predict that human skills like "creativity, originality, and initiative" will be some of the most in-demand skills by 2025
  1. 📋 Human Resources - Can you help an employer do more with less? That's called resourcefulness and it's a top soft skill employers are currently looking for. 1. 👂 I'm Listening - How do you flaunt your soft skills in an interview? Ask thought-provoking questions to show off your ability to communicate. Active listening and the ability to hold a healthy conversation signal to the hiring manager how well you work with others.
  1. 🤬 Horrible Bosses - Deadbeat managers without soft skills are everywhere. A recent survey shows one in five workers experienced "unkind remarks or personal attacks" from someone in a leadership position. Interviewing for a manager job?
