Ready For Your Rebate?

The checks are literally in the mail (or in the data stream). The state has begun paying out those surplus-funded rebate checks and they’ll be in your hands (or account) in the near future if they aren’t already.

Here’s Five Fast Facts About the State Rebates:

  1. 🧮 When? - If you don’t have yours yet, don’t worry. There are 2.1 million checks that started going out in the middle of August and should be done by the end of this month. So it can take time. Direct Deposits were issued first.
  2. 💵 What is this Based On, Again? - Rebates are based on your 2021 income tax returns and the money will be sent out via check or direct deposit.
  3. 💰 How Much? - At the bare minimum, joint filers will get $520. Single, married separate, and head-of-household filers will get $260. We covered the full payment breakdowns recently and you can refresh your memory here.
  4. 📭 Where’s Mine? - You can’t track your rebate because it’s being handled outside the normal system. If you don’t see your refund by the end of October, double check your eligibility before contacting the state.
  5. 👶 But Wait, There’s More! - Don’t forget the new child tax credit that went into effect with the rebate legislation. If you’re eligible, you’ll see it when you file your 2023 income tax.

🔥Bottom line: Money is back in your hands! For real! It took long enough, but it’s good to see those in charge make good on a promise. Could they have given you more? Probably. Regardless, money is money and it’s yours!
