Quit Doom Scrolling. It’s Time for a Digital Detox

Up til 3am again scrolling through TikToks? 🤳 We know, there’s an endless supply of dancing cats and you have to see them all. 😍🐱

Being glued to your phone all the time is bad for your posture…and it could be bad for your wallet, too. Wondering if it’s time to take a digital detox? Keep reading! 👇

Here’s Five Fast Facts on the benefits of a digital detox:

  1. 🌶️ Spicy Stats - If you can’t get off social media, you’re not the only one. Research shows internet users aged 16 to 64 spend an average of 6 hours and 40 minutes online every day. Too much screen time leads to everything from neck pain to depression and anxiety. Americans also spend about $513 per month shopping online.
  1. 📱 Detox Details - So how do you take a digital detox? Decide how long of a break you need from your phone, computer, or tablet. Whether it’s for 24 hours or an entire month, the point is to break that mindless scroll cycle and give yourself a little reset. Benefits range from improved sleep to enhanced focus.
  1. 🛍️ Subtracting Ads - When you take a digital break, you’ll see a lot fewer ads. This helps take away the temptation to buy things without giving it a second thought. When you’re not hit with an ad every second, you’re less likely to spend your paycheck on things you don’t need.
  1. 🐌 Slow Your Roll - If you’re an impulse buyer, today’s retailers have made it super easy to buy things with one click. Putting the phone down forces you to really think through purchases before pulling the trigger. Slow things down and visit a brick and mortar store where you can still pay the old fashioned way.
  1. ⏰ Time On Your Hands - One minute, you’re in the zone getting the day’s work done. The next minute, you’ve been hijacked by the scroll monster. When you take a digital detox, you’ll make those pesky devices off limits and get all that wasted time back. Who knows? Maybe you’ll have enough time to learn a brand new skill or finally start up that side hustle.

🔥Bottom line: If your daily screen time is embarrassing (we’re looking at you, double digits club), don’t start off with a harsh detox. You’re less likely to stick with it over the long term. Try a 24 hour break first and go from there. Wanna save money on your cell phone bill? Check out these tips.
