Have you jumped on the ChatGPT bandwagon yet? 🧑🏻💻 People are using it for all sorts of things. Some people even used it to write their wedding vows. If a robot came up with better lines than your spouse, could you marry the bot instead?! 👰🏼♀️🤖
Whether you like it or not, AI is making its way into government matters. ⚖️ In fact, Pennsylvania's launching a brand new program where government workers will use ChatGPT on the job.
Here’s Five Fast Facts on the ChatGPT pilot program:
- 💻 Chatty Cathy - Through this pilot program, PA workers will use ChatGPT Enterprise in a variety of ways. Tasks include creating copy, updating outdated policy language, drafting job descriptions, and coding.
- 📋 Get With the Program - The test program begins this month in PA's Office of Administration. They didn't say how many workers will participate but the program could include other state workers in the future.
- ✅ Improvement Movement - The ultimate goal of this pilot program is to figure out how to use generative AI to improve services for citizens. As of now, access to ChatGPT would be limited to state workers. PA residents won't interact with the tool directly.
- 🆕 State of Affairs - Back in September, PA Governor Josh Shapiro issued an executive order to explore how the state can use generative AI tools like ChatGPT.
- 🤝 AI May I - PA's the first state to launch a program like this. OpenAI, the development company of ChatGPT, is jazzed about it. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says the collaboration will provide valuable information on how AI can make state services better.
🔥Bottom line: Sure, AI is taking some jobs away, but it's also making others a whole lot easier. Do you think ChatGPT could make the DMV less of a nightmarish hellscape? We'll keep dreaming. Want to know what laws PA has on deck in 2024? Read about them here!
