In other news, Pennsylvania has a new initiative that not only provides great jobs for disabled individuals, but also makes the Unemployment Compensation process smoother. ✅
Here’s Five Fast Facts on the jobs initiative:
- 💼 Grand Plan - PA’s Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) recently launched a brand new initiative to improve service for those who claim Unemployment Compensation (UC). The plan also includes offering jobs with valuable work experience to folks with disabilities through the state’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR).
- ☎️ One Call Away - Through the initiative, a new call center staffed by OVR clients has been set up for UC claimants to make appointments with UC Connect at PA CareerLink locations. They can also call the center for assistance with routine inquiries. The call center is open Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM and the number is 1-855-284-8545.
- 💸 The Claim Game - In 2023, PA L&I distributed over $1.7 billion in UC benefits to roughly 326,000 Pennsylvanians. Through budget increases and added jobs, UC customer service will get a much needed boost and help with speedier claim processing throughout 2024.
- 📞 Ringing Off the Hook - How busy is L&I’s customer service? In January alone, support through the UC helpline, live chat, and email served more than 132,000 individuals. They also offered in-person services to 4,127 people through the UC Connect program at PA CareerLink locations.
- 🏃 Speedy Service - In addition to day-to-day claims processing and career services, PA’s L&I also provides Rapid Response Services throughout the state to businesses and workers facing job losses. In January, the service provided assistance to 46 employers and 1,704 workers.
