Hey, who trained the new guy?! We just saw him trying to drive the warehouse forklift to the Wendy's up the street. 🛺🍔 Not sure that was covered in orientation…🥴
Anyway, PA's Governor Josh Shapiro just signed a brand new executive order to create what's called the Commonwealth Workers Transformation Program (CWTP). Its main goal is to provide grants to companies and contractors to help them get the skilled workforce they need to succeed. 👷
Here’s Five Fast Facts on the new executive order:
- 🗺️ The Game Plan - Shapiro recently reported that up to $400 million will go towards workforce training programs over the next five years.
- 🦺 History in the Making - This new initiative will be the largest one of its kind in PA state history. The current administration estimates as many as 10,000 new jobs could be supported.
- 💵 Here's Your Check - Through the CWTP, companies, contractors, and unions will get reimbursement of up to $40,000 per new employee hired and trained in critical industries. The money can be used for reimbursement of wages, payroll taxes, and training costs.
- 🛠️ All Trained Up - Funds can also be used for pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship program costs. Additionally, money can go towards establishing a new training program and any costs associated with the use of a training facility.
- 🫂 You're So Supportive - Although the new program is centered around workforce training, employers may also receive reimbursement for "supportive services". Supportive services are anything that helps remove barriers that get in the way of an employee's participation in training, like housing, child care, work-related tools, uniforms, and transportation.
🔥Bottom line: Workers make the world go 'round. Governor Shapiro says the crazy I95 collapse and speedy repairs showed us all just how amazing PA's workforce really is! Now, if they could only get around to patching up these potholes. In case you haven't heard, it's the summer of strikes. Get all the striking hot tea right here.
