PA’s Getting Sporty!

Hold onto your hats, Pennsylvania. 🫨 We’re getting hit with a whopper of a storm…a sports storm, that is! 🏆

Over the next several years, the Keystone State is hosting all kinds of big-time sporting events. ⚾⚽⛳ *AND* the state’s providing grants to make sure they go off without a hitch.

Here’s Five Fast Facts on PA’s upcoming major sporting events:

  1. 🌟 Gonna Be Major - In mid-November, PA’s Department of Community and Economic Development announced it awarded $5 million in grant money in support of upcoming sporting events. Across the Commonwealth, 11 major sporting events are happening between now and 2026. It’s estimated that the events will bring over $240 million into the PA economy.
  1. 🏟️ Ballin’ Out - The Philadelphia Phillies got an impressive $1,750,000 in grant money to support their hosting of the 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. For all you soccer heads out there, Philly’s also hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2026. Busy year in the City of Brotherly Love!
  1. 🏌️ All Fore It - In Allegheny County, a cool $1 million was awarded to the United States Golf Association in support of the 2025 men’s U.S. Open, to be held at the Oakmont Country Club. In Delco, the PGA got $900,000 for the 2026 PGA Championship, taking place at Aronimink Golf Club.
  1. ⛸️ Triple Axel - The Hershey Figure Skating Club in Dauphin County will be hosting the 2025 Eastern Sectional Synchronized Skating Championship. The state awarded the club $76,945 in support of the event. Now, that’s an event worth seeing.
  1. ⚾ Home Run - This one’s for all the kids dreaming of making it big in baseball! Williamsport in Lycoming County got $750,000 in support of their hosting the 2025 Little League World Series. Totes time to rewatch the Sandlot.

🔥Bottom line: We don’t know about you, but we’re most excited to see some synchronized skating. We might also hit up the golf events, but we’re not exactly the classy type. We’re probably better off downing some Diet Buds at the ballpark. Is PA a good state for the middle-class to call home? Find out here.
