Here’s Five Fast Facts on Pennsylvania’s creative sector:
- 🎨 Nice Canvas - A new research report took a look at PA’s creative sector in 2022 and revealed some pretty nice stats. Arts and cultural jobs added over $30 billion to the state's economy. That’s up 6.8% from 2021.
- 🩰 Artsy Gigs - The arts are way more than just a source of fun and entertainment. They keep the economy train choo-chooin’. PA’s creative sector employs over 175,000 full time jobs and provides $14B in compensation.
- 🧑🎨 Creative Country - Speaking of keeping the train moving, the nation’s arts and cultural industries made up 4.3% of the country’s GDP in 2022. That’s roughly $1.1 trillion! Nationwide, the creative sector provides almost 5.2 million jobs.
- 🏆 Top Ten - According to the data, Pennsylvania ranked 8th among all states in arts and cultural production value added and 35th among all states in arts and cultural added growth.
- 💵 Pretty Paychecks - Thinking about trading your humdrum career for something a little more artsy? Well, it could come with a better paycheck. Average compensation per wage-and-salary job in PA’s arts and cultural industries was $85,521 in 2022. Compare that to an average pay of $80,386 for all salaried jobs in the state.
🔥Bottom line: If a career in the arts is calling your name but you don’t think you're artsy enough, there are a ton of jobs under the creative sector umbrella!
