We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. When Uncle Sam’s dishing out money, we’ll scoop it up with open arms. 🤗 Wouldn’t it be cool if we could fill up a pillowcase with cash like an old school Halloween? 👻 We won’t get our hopes up.
In July, qualifying PA seniors will get a sweet property tax or rent rebate. 💰
Here’s Five Fast Facts on PA’s property tax and rent rebate program:
- 💵 A Little Help - PA’s Gov. Josh Shapiro recently announced they’re shelling out $266 million in property tax and rent rebates, starting on July 1st. These rebates are part of an existing rebate program with the goal of providing some much needed financial relief to PA seniors.
- 🎣 Reelin’ in Rebates - How much money will seniors get? The rebates could be as much as $1,000, depending on things like property taxes paid and income levels. Although the program starts in July, PA residents have until the end of the year to apply for rebates.
- 📊 Tiers for Fears - Rebate amounts are based on a tier system. Here’s the breakdown: anyone with an income between $0 and $8,000 can receive the full $1,000. Incomes up to $15,000 can receive $770. Anyone between $15,001 and $18,000 is eligible for $460. Qualifying residents with incomes between $18,001 and $45,000 get $380.
- 🎈 Pop the Balloon Already - Although the current annual income cap is $45,000, this amount will get adjusted with inflation over time. That’s good news, but we also hope inflation…deflates.
- 🏘️ Raise the Roof - Who’s eligible for these property tax and rent rebates? In addition to the above income requirements, you must be a PA resident aged 65 or older. Widows and widowers aged 50 and older as well as disabled individuals are also eligible.
🔥Bottom line: Just like that Modest Mouse song, inflation just keeps floating on, OK? Until things really start to cool off, we’ll take all the help they’re giving. Speaking of inflation, ever wonder who gets hit the hardest? Check out the details on that right here.
