The Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation recently updated its Top Jobs list, which is used to determine where federal training funding goes. 💸 Here's a roundup of the highlights.
Here’s Five Fast Facts on Ohio's top jobs:
- 💻 Gettin' Techy with It - In Northeastern Ohio, it's all about tech. Software developers, software quality assurance analysts, and testers are among the hottest jobs in the state with a $103,000 median annual salary. These jobs also have a projected annual growth of 316 positions per year and 1,647 current openings.
- 👷 Hands-on Hot Jobs - Laborers and freight, stock, and material movers have over 5,000 current openings and an annual median salary of $32,000. Another noteworthy top job in the hands-on world is industrial machinery mechanics. They have 796 openings and an average salary of $59,000.
- 🩺 Nursing Nation - Healthcare is a major theme on the Top Jobs list. Registered nurses have 2,737 projected openings and a median salary of $74,000. There are also 344 nurse practitioner openings with a $105,000 average salary.
- ❤️ A Caring Heart - Home health and personal care aides are a top job all over the state. The field has a projected growth of 2,298, which is twice the amount of any other category. Median salary: $27,000.
- 🍽️ Serve It Up - The food service industry is also booming. According to the list, first line supervisors of food preparation and serving workers have a $33,000 average salary and 2,264 openings.
