Now Open: Ohio's High School Tech Internship Program

Are you an ambitious high schooler? Want to get a head start on your career? 🚀 You're in luck! It was just announced that Ohio's High School Tech Internship Program is now open for enrollment. 😁

The program provides businesses throughout the Buckeye State with the tech talent they'll need to fly into the future. 🧑🏻‍💻 Students get valuable hands-on work experience before hitting the ol' career path. They'll be swapping their school supplies for a big boy briefcase in no time. 💼

Here’s Five Fast Facts on the tech internship program:

  1. 🖥️ What Is It You Do Here? - An intern's job duties will be similar to those of an entry-level tech employee. Typical roles include software development, data, cloud and IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, broadband/5G, advanced mobility, and more.
  2. 🗓️ Year In Review - Last year, 510 Ohio students participated in the High School Tech Internship Program. They worked at 141 different employers all over the state.
  3. 📝 Sign Me Up - Interested in enrolling? You'll need to contact the intermediary in your region that can connect you with a business that is hosting an internship experience. Find out who your intermediary contact is on this trusty map
  1. 💰 A Rewarding Experience - Ohio employers who take on interns will be reimbursed up to 100 percent of the wages they pay them (up to $5,000 per intern). They can also earn bonuses for each student who earns certain industry-recognized credentials.
  2. 🏭 Give Me the Business - Are you a company who wants in? Interested businesses can contact the intermediary in their region for more details.

🔥Bottom line: Gaining real-world work experience as a high schooler is a pretty sweet deal. Who knows? Maybe it'll stop you from picking a random college career out of your hiney just to make your parents happy. Spoiler alert: that always backfires. Speaking of random, catalytic converter thefts are down! Read all about it here.
