A new year is the perfect time to get your finances in order or even set a new goal that takes them to a new level. If you don’t have an idea where to start, you’re in luck! We have some helpful suggestions.
Here’s Five Fast Facts About Financial Resolutions:
- 👔 Meet With a Financial Advisor - If you don’t have an idea where to start, some expert guidance is the perfect place. A financial advisor will help you figure out your best money moves.
- 💳 Pay Off Debt - We’re not talking about ALL of your debt here, but credit card debt is the perfect place to start. Look at your interest rates, choose a card with a higher rate, and focus on it.
- 📜 Write A Will - You’re going to die someday. When and how doesn’t matter (just don’t be like Michael Hutchence) but what happens after does. Without a will, the courts decide who gets your assets (like my Precious Moments collection).
- 🏦 Open a High-Interest Savings Account - Interest rates are high everywhere, but a savings account with a high rate benefits you alone! Some accounts offer more than a 5% annual percentage yield. Avoid fees as much as possible and choose a bank or credit union that’s easy to access.
- 🚨 Start an Emergency Fund - Do you have at least three months of emergency funds saved? It’s okay if you don’t — more than 50% of all Americans don’t, either. Now's your chance to get started.
🔥Bottom line: While all of these tips may not apply to you, at least one of them should. I need to get my will put together quickly or those aforementioned Precious Moments figures are going to go to my mother-in-law and I don’t want that.
