Here’s Five Fast Facts on Ohio’s hospital jobs:
- 🧑⚕️ Health Is Wealth - All together, Mount Carmel Health System, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and OhioHealth have close to 6,500 open positions. Over the next few years, these hospital systems are expected to add an additional 6,000 jobs on top of that. Phew!
- 🩺 All-Inclusive - Not a med student? No problem. Students in vocational schools or post-high school training programs in health care could line themselves up with a great job once they graduate. Ohio’s hospitals are looking for staff in every department from direct patient care to administrative roles like finance and tech. They’ve also got openings in food service, plumbing, HVAC, housekeeping, and warehousing.
- 💸 A Foot In the Door - If you’re an entry-level job seeker, healthcare is a great place to advance your career on the company dime! Ohio’s top health systems often pay for certifications and college tuition to help you level up your skills.
- 📢 What’s Up, Doc? - To boost awareness and get these jobs filled, hospitals banded together to create the Healthcare Career Collaborative of Central Ohio. Back in March, they hosted a big hands-on career awareness event for high school and vocational school students. They’ll do another similar event sometime in winter of 2025.
