Must-Have Holiday Travel Hacks

Heading home for the holidays? 🧳🎄 Traveling this time of year isn’t for the weak. All those traffic jams and crowded airports can be a real Bah Humbug. Don’t get us started on all those pesky airline fees. 😤

What’s next? Charging us to recline our seat? Keep the change, you filthy animal. 🤪

Here’s Five Fast Facts on how to travel smart and save over the holidays:

  1. 💸 Deals and Steals - Wondering what’s considered a “good deal” on travel for the 2024 holiday season? Here’s the scoop: airfare - $270 or less per domestic roundtrip airfare ticket. Car rental: $44 or less per day. Hotels: $161 or less per night.
  1. 🍫 Snack Attack - Whether you’re road tripping across the state or catching a flight across the country, packing your own snacks can save you a pretty penny. If you’ll be in the car, fill up a cooler with everyone’s faves instead of stopping for lunch or dinner. If you’re flying, pack your own high-protein snacks and skip the expensive airport kiosks. Bring an empty water bottle and fill it up at the airport instead of buying a $8,364 bottle of Evian.
  1. ✈️ Gotta Stay Fly - To get the best flight deals, try to travel mid-week. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are less popular days to fly, which could lead to significant savings. If you can, avoid traveling on the days leading up to big holidays. Airlines love to turn up the surge pricing on high-volume travel dates. Use a tracker like Hopper or Google Flights to score the best deals.
  1. 🏃 Right On Schedule - Aim to get to the airport at least two hours before any domestic flights and three hours before flying internationally. Getting caught up in security can be a real nail biter, so give yourself plenty of time. Oh, and don’t try to go through TSA with wrapped gifts…unless you want to wrap them again at your destination.
  1. 📦 Shipping Before Tripping - Want to travel light and avoid those pesky airline baggage fees? Consider shipping any gifts to your destination before your trip. Better yet, grab your gifts from Amazon and send it right to your family or friends. If you’re a Prime member, shipping’s usually free!

🔥Bottom line: Holiday travel can be a real circus, but hey, it’s all worth it when we finally make it to our loved ones. Unless they annoy you. Ready to cut your annoying uncle out of your life over his political hot takes? Before you kick him to the curb, read this article
