Minnesota’s Job Market Is Packed

Much like that toy rabbit with a big drum, the Minnesota economy keeps going and going. June saw the addition of another(!) record amount of job growth and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon!

Here’s Five Fast Facts:

  1. 📈 How Much? - Minnesota added a shocking 9,017 jobs. That’s the largest gain in three years!  Who says no one wants to work anymore?!?!?!?!
  2. 🍀 Fantastic Four - According to the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) this is the fourth straight month of positive job growth, totaling more than three million people.
  3. 👃 By a Nose - Even crazier: we’re ahead of the national labor force participation rate. The state sits at  68.4%, while the country’s rate is 62.6%!
  4. 🫳 On the Low Low - Lastly, we’re looking at a 2.9% unemployment rate, which is lower than the national rate of 3.6%. This is insane!
  5. 📉 Still a Loss - There’s one slight catch: last month, we lost 4,300 jobs on a seasonally-adjusted basis and the private sector lost 6,500 jobs. Weird math, I tell you.

🔥Bottom line: Minnesota is a job seeker’s paradise! Who would have thought that? If you’re looking for a place to work (and you’re willing to move) you can possibly negotiate yourself a pretty nice salary or benefits. We’re seeing some turnover, but anything vacant fills quickly.
