Mind Your Manners! Don't Forget to Send a Post-Interview Thank-You Note

So you've aced the interview and your Spidey Senses tell you an offer letter is probably on the way. 🔮📄 No matter how sure you are that it's in the bag, don't blow things by forgetting to send a thank you note! ✉️

Sending a short-but-sweet message to the hiring team is more than just a nice gesture. It's also a way to keep your name in everyone's minds. 🧠 Because there's no candidate better than you, we're sure of it. 🥇

Here’s Five Fast Facts on how to craft the perfect thank-you note:

  1. ⌚ Time is of the Essence - When's the right time to send out your note? A good rule of thumb is within 24 hours of your interview. Sending an email is the quickest method, but snail mail is OK, too. Whichever method you choose, keep things brief and to the point. No need to include your life story.

  2. 📨 Open Me - If you're emailing your note, make sure you include an eye-catching subject line to ensure it gets opened. Don't go too crazy or try to be a comedian with it, just make sure it isn't lame enough to get passed over. Oh, and if you were interviewed by multiple people, send each person a separate thank-you note. Making things as personal as possible increases your chances of staying top of mind.
  1. 🤸 Look What I Can Do - If you have any show-and-tell items or visual aids that might give you an edge, consider including them in your thank-you. Examples would be a portfolio of work you've done for clients, photos of things you've made/fixed/invented, and testimonials from past bosses or colleagues.

  2. 📝 Take It Personally - Another stand-out tip is to include something specifically discussed in your interview. Hiring managers see a ton of candidates and the more specific you are, the more likely they'll remember your conversation. Mention something the interviewer said and how it inspired you to get those brownie points.
  1. 🌟 Hey Now, You're an All-Star - At the end of your thank-you, close things out with a clear statement on why you want to join the company. Pepper in a sentence or two on how you can add value to the organization and why you're the MVP.

🔥Bottom line: In this day and age, you have to treat the ol' job search like a full contact sport. Instead of banging your competition over the head with a folding chair, get to the top of the list by reminding the hiring team why you're number one!
