Middle Management is Just as Miserable

When discussing employees who have a lack of confidence in company leadership, it’s easy to assume that it’s usually coming from the rank and file. But there’s a new source: middle management. It turns out middle management is just as unhappy as their fellow employees.

Here’s Five Fast Facts About the Drop in Middle Management’s Confidence:

  1. 📉 Steep Drop - Middle management’s confidence level dropped to its worst ever ranking last month, taking general employee satisfaction with it to 45.1%
  2. 📊 Down Low - Experts note that middle management’s confidence is almost equal to that of entry-level employees.
  3. 😣 Stuck in the Middle - The downturn is directly tied to the fact that middle managers have to direct junior employees and answer to the senior ranks. It’s causing a lot of burnout.
  4. ✂️ Cut Bait - Layoffs aren’t helping, either. Several tech firms and even big companies like UPS are targeting middle management this year, citing productivity and efficiency.
  5. 😳 Slim Pickings - Job postings for middle management roles are down 15% over the past year, particularly hitting the financial and software industries. Basically, those roles are disappearing completely.

🔥Bottom line: Should we feel bad for middle management since they’re now the target of corporate shenanigans like the rest of us? The human answer is “yes” but it’s tough to be sympathetic to the Bill Lumberghs out there. The thing to keep in mind is that we’re all human and it’s awful when people lose jobs because of this kind of nonsense.
