Are you getting a weird vibe from your boss lately? Maybe management is giving you what feels like the cold shoulder? Could it mean you’re getting fired? Or are you reading into it? Maybe it’s both!
Here’s Five Fast Telltale Signs You’re About to Get Fired:
- 🔥 Your Workload Decreases - If tasks you’ve regularly handled are getting assigned to others, your boss is getting your co-workers ready to pick up the slack when you’re gone. Start looking for one of those brown banker boxes.
- 🚒 Your Boss is Avoiding You - No one likes being an executioner. If your boss suddenly disappears when you’re around or stops talking with you altogether, be prepared for your next conversation to be your last.
- 🧯 They’re Hiring For A Suspiciously Similar Position - This is a pretty good indicator that your employer is getting your replacement lined up. If they have you train this new hire, buddy, you’re toast!
- 🧑🚒 They Cut Your Pay - If pay cuts aren’t coming across the board in an effort to “save money” but you happen to be hit with one, chances are they’re trying to push you out so they don’t have to fire you. But rest assured, it’s probably coming.
- 💥 Your Performance Reviews Continue to Decline - Your boss is showing there’s a clear trend in your failure as an employee. One bad review is not a sign. Three (or more) in a row? It might be time to start packing.
🔥Bottom line: Getting fired can be traumatic, especially if you don’t see it coming. At the same time, it’s important you understand it’s not the end of the world and you will rebound. If you’re seeing these signs, have a respectful conversation with your boss (or even someone you trust) and start developing an exit strategy.
