When’s the last time you were truly excited to get out of bed and go to work? 👨🤓Was it back when you still had hair or was it just recently before you started your first job?
Here’s Five Fast Facts About Workplace Motivation:
- 🎯 Targets - Set a goal. It could be daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or all of the above. Research shows that when a salesperson has a target, for example, they close more deals. “Doing your best” at your job doesn’t cut it because it’s not concrete and it makes what you do a chore. So, think about how your work tasks can be more goal oriented.
- 🏃 Let’s Get Small - Split your day or your work into smaller tasks. It gives you a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when you’re able to complete each one. It also makes things feel easier to complete as a whole.
- 💌 Love Affair - What part, or parts, of your job do you love? Figure that out and focus on the joy or satisfaction it brings you.
- 🤔 Because We Like You - Remember why you’re doing this work. Is it to pay off your car? Put your kids through college? Because you’re building something you feel passionate about? Use that “Why” to keep your focus.
- 👩🏫 Learning Is Fun - A growth mindset builds strength, so ask yourself what are you learning from this work? Focusing on the learning redirects your lack of motivation to constructive thoughts and positivity.
🔥Bottom line: It’s called “Work” for a reason, not “Super Happy Fun Time.” But it is possible to bring what you do closer to something fun when you’re properly motivated. Not every technique will work for you. Hopefully these tips will help you create your own techniques as well.
