Sam’s Club has been a pioneering force in the Warehouse Club shopping experience. It’s known for all sorts of member perks, including selling items in bulk at impressive prices. The only catch is that you have to pay for a yearly membership to shop there. And that leads some people to question whether or not it’s the best bang for your buck.
Here’s Five Fast Facts about Sam’s Club Memberships:
- 🛒 Entry Fee - If you’re on a budget and you have to pay full price for a membership? Take a pass. Sam’s is known for offering all sorts of new member promotions. For example: pay $50 for a regular membership and get a $50 gift card. You don’t need to be a math wiz to solve that equation.
- 🛍️ Uno, Dos - If you’re shopping for two people, a membership probably isn’t the best choice. There are some products there that might go bad before they could possibly be used. Bananas, I’m looking at you. If you’ve got a family, absolutely go for it.
- 🛢️ Bulk Up - Almost everything Sam’s sells is in bulk or larger quantities. If you don’t have the storage space, there’s legitimately no point in buying a gallon of olive oil. Save your cash. But if you have a fallout shelter or a safe room Sam’s is the perfect place to stock up.
- 💳 Free Stuff - Sam’s Club offers a variety of services that don’t require a membership including their cafe, eye exams, prescription drugs, and even alcohol sales. If you’d only use those services, take a pass on the membership.
- ⛽ Gassy - Sam’s offers its members discounted gas. Data from 2022 shows that buying 20 gallons of fuel a week basically causes the membership to pay for itself. That’s a lot of gas, so unless you own a gas-guzzler or have multiple cars, you might be hard-pressed to hit that number.
🔥Bottom line: If you’re looking for a definitive answer, you won’t find one. Hopefully this information is enough for you to decide which one works best for you.
