At the beginning of the year, we often look back at the previous year and evaluate things. It seems to be a human thing, and it applies to all manner of topics. In this case, let’s take a stroll through some of the 2023 rankings from various organizations to see how the Evergreen State measured up. There are too many to cover them all, but here are some notable ones.
Here are Five Fast Facts on Washington State’s ratings in 2023:
- 🌲 Beauty - Our state was named the most naturally beautiful state in the country. We would add: obviously! The mountains, national parks, waterfalls, large natural lakes and beaches all make for one of the most amazing places to look around and appreciate nature!
- 👩 Women - We’ve got a great place for women, too! Ranked #1 for nurses (yeah, we know there are men nurses, but it’s a field dominated by women), as well as #7 for women in general, our state is a great place for the womenfolk. And the menfolk are very glad for that, as well. 😉
- 💰 Economy - We often talk about how strong Washington State’s economy is, and that fact is acknowledged by a lot of ratings organizations. We’ve got great economic activity, health, and innovation all across the state.
- 💸 Too Expensive - Sadly, we made the top of a few bad lists, too. Our driver’s licenses are the most expensive, and home down payments are third highest. We can get away with that because of the strong economy!
- 🏙️ Cities - Some of our cities won awards, too. Mercer Island and Medina were ranked #9 and #11 for the most desirable suburbs, Olympia was #10 for best summer places to visit, and Spokane is #3 for the best cities to retire in.
🔥Bottom line: There’s always some bad mixed in with the good, but we think it’s safe to say this is a great place to call home. Next time you have a quiet moment, just soak it in and appreciate it!
