Our current economy doesn't exactly put us in the giving mood. 😑📉 However, giving back to local communities and meaningful charities is needed now more than ever. 🫶
Even if you can't stretch your paycheck to include a donation, you can still make an impact! 💜
Here’s Five Fast Facts on how to give back when money's tight:
- 👋 Hi, Neighbor - Giving back doesn't have to mean shelling out cash to a big-name charity. Start local and help those right in your backyard. Volunteer your time at a local school, park, or rec center. Take unwanted items to your local charity shop. Bring food to your local pantry or sign up to serve meals to the needy in your spare time.
- 🥳 Let's Plan a Party - If you're a planner, consider organizing an event. Think about who's in your network and pull people together to host something fun for a good cause. Find free or cheap space in your community for a talent show or charity auction. Charge folks for tickets and donate the proceeds to the charity of your choice.
- 📦 Clear Out Your Crap - Got too much stuff at home? Decluttering isn't just good for your mental health, it's good for those in need, too. Schedule a decluttering weekend and have the whole family pitch in to clear out unwanted items. Box everything up and donate it to a local charity instead of tossing it in a dumpster.
- 🎁 Pay It Forward - Another fun way to raise money is to set up a fundraiser…on your birthday! Have friends and family make a cash donation to a charity instead of buying you a gift.
- 🚮 Before You Toss It … - Did you know some charities will literally turn your trash into treasure?! Programs like Terracycle take everything from old lotion bottles to empty coffee bags. Wands for Wildlife takes old mascara wands and repurposes them to help animals.
🔥Bottom line: Times are tough and we don't always have extra money to give to those who need it. However, if you get creative, you can make a big difference without breaking the bank. Do you know what it means to truly live paycheck to paycheck? This article explains it all.
