If you live in rural Ohio, your commute might be getting a sweet upgrade! 🤠🚌
The federal government is footing the bill for some green transportation in the form of electric buses in ten Ohio communities, six of which are in rural areas. 🧑🌾
Here’s Five Fast Facts on the new buses:
- ⚙️ I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up - Regular buses in some areas are over ten years old and have racked up over 200,000 miles. The maintenance and repairs on these puppies really drive up costs…
- 👴🏻 Time To Retire - …but new funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is on the way to replace the older vehicles with brand spankin' new electric ones and boost up fleets.
- 🔋 Full Battery - Rural Ohio has some pretty long routes in remote areas, so charging up the buses for long hauls is a challenge. However, there's plans to add four new charging stations in bigger cities along the way, like in Tiffin and Bucyrus.
- 🚌 Bus Benefits - The hope is that this round of funding will help smaller towns embrace the push for electric vehicles (EVs). It'll also make trips to the doctor's office and errands much easier. A quick trip in a bigger metro area can sometimes take a whole day in a rural one.
- 📑 A Grander Plan - The latest electric bus plan is part of a larger one to expand EVs across Ohio. You can get all the juicy details on that right here.
🔥Bottom line: Better public transportation helps make communities more livable. The push for EVs sure is strong these days, and these new buses are a win for the state and the environment. Thinking about buying an EV of your own? Don't make any big decisions until you weigh the pros and cons!
Do you live in an area that would benefit from these new buses?
