All eyes are on Ohio as big companies continue to invest big bucks in new projects…and we're diggin' it! 👀👷
JobsOhio just won Area Development's prestigious Gold Shovel award and two Project of the Year awards. 🏆 The state attracted quite a few high-dollar investors in 2022, which is a great boost to the economy. Let's hope no one pawns the gold shovel to pay for gas and groceries! 😅
Here’s Five Fast Facts on Ohio's recent economic success:
- 📈 Power Projects - JobsOhio, the state's nonprofit economic development crew, submitted several of the state's projects across six industries: advanced automotive, energy and chemicals, food and agribusiness, health care, logistics and distribution and technology. The projects represent over $28 billion in investment dollars.
- 🥇 Gold Digger - Ohio took home the Gold Shovel top prize in the category of states with a population of over 10 million.
- 💻 Fresh New Intel - Intel's $20 billion larger-than-life semiconductor fabrication facility project was named the 2022 Manufacturing Project of the Year. Based in Licking County, the new facility will support 3,000 engineering and technician jobs.
- 🦾 Bring Out the Big Guns - JobsOhio also included projects from big names like Abbott, Ford, Honda, LG Energy Solutions, and SEMCORP. The LG and SEMCORP projects set new records for foreign direct investment in the Buckeye State. They also created 3,728 foreign direct investment jobs.
- 🔮 Future Forecast - For 2022, JobsOhio vetted 26 Ohio Site Inventory Program projects. They also included five additional SiteOhio properties, which are defined as "shovel-ready" sites which lead to noteworthy deals. For 2023, they plan on vetting 25 projects, three additional shovel-ready sites. They'll also perform due diligence studies on three new sites.
