When you park your car, you generally expect it to be in the same place when you come back to it. Some Kia owners, however, are getting a bit of a surprise on that point. We’ve got the details!
Here are Five Fast Facts about the big Kia Telluride recall:
- 😲 Ha Ha Just Kidding - Kia has announced a recall on about 427,000 Telluride SUVs because, well, they might roll away on their own when they’re parked. Yep, you read that right!
- 👍 All Good - Don’t worry, no injuries have been reported because of this teeny, tiny problem.
- 🤔 Getting The Shaft - The issue is apparently caused by the driveshaft being improperly assembled, making the car think it’s okay to move even if it’s in park.
- 🚙 Not Long Ago - The model years involved are everything from 2020-2023 and some 2024 models manufactured between January and October.
- ✋ Owner Actions - Fear not, Telluride owner! The problem is apparently solved with a software update, and at no cost to you. Contact your nearest dealer to make arrangements for a fix. And until you do, make SURE you engage the manual parking brake before you walk away!
🔥Bottom line: This is going to cost Kia a pretty penny, but for you it’s a no brainer - it’s a free safety upgrade that might avoid a crash and potentially injuries! Also, you get peace of mind knowing that your car will be right where you left it.
