Checkout These Grocery Prices

Good news from the grocery store: prices are dropping. We’re not talking prices on knockoff Oreos and generic soda. It’s the important stuff. But before you go celebrating, you should also know that there are still some eyebrow-raising price increases, too.

Here’s Five Fast Facts About Grocery Store Prices:

  1. 🥬 Farm Fresh - The produce aisle experienced considerable drops. Lettuce decreased by 4% from November and 16.7% since 2022. Potatoes saw a 2.8% decrease.
  2. 🐄 Moo - Dairy is having a moment: cheese (3.3%), butter (2.9%), and milk (1.8%) all experienced price decreases.
  3. 🥚 I Am the Walrus - The biggest price increases in December are straight out of Dr. Seuss in the form of eggs and ham. Egg prices increased 8.9% from November, which is the highest monthly increase since January 2023. Ham prices saw a 2.6% increase.
  4. 🥩 Fatty - Fats, oils, and peanut butter also climbed 2.6%. Raw beef and steak was close behind with 2.4%.
  5. 📊 Meh - As a whole, food prices are up an average of 2.7%, which is lower than the overall inflation rate of 3.4%. So consider this a small win.

🔥Bottom line: Inflation is insane and it continues to hit normal folks in their wallets. The market may never return to pre-2020 levels regardless of who gets elected into the various political offices later this year.
