It’s time for the next installment in our series about best paying jobs for different folks! First, let’s recap. We started with the best paying jobs overall, then the best paying trade jobs. From there we looked at the best jobs for college students and for those who aren’t college bound. Then, it was teens in the summertime. Now we’re going to take a swing at jobs for teens all year round. The good news is that there are some great options out there!
Here are Five Fast Facts about teen jobs all year round:
- 🍔 Food Service - It’s a classic first job! Restaurants, coffee shops, and lots of other food-related places are always looking for reliable workers (especially now). Starting around $11-15 per hour, you might also get tips, depending on the role you’re in. Since people need to eat all year round, these jobs never go away, and they often include hours outside of school.
- 👶🐕 Start Sitting - Babysitting is another staple of teen work. The pay will usually depend on where you are and how many kids you’re watching, but typically it’s $10-15 per hour. Pet sitting is another option, especially if diapers aren’t your thing! Seasons don’t apply to this one, either.
- 🏪 General Labor - There are too many other businesses to name them all, but think about cashiers, retail stores, grocery stores, movie theaters, and more. These will usually pay around $12-16, but you could get more in some cases. It’s like a profitable choose-your-own-adventure story!
- 🚙 Hit The Gas - If you have a car, then a driving job might be more your speed. Making deliveries, driving for app-based services like Uber Eats, and maybe even driving trucks can be great jobs. Many of these pay a bit more, starting around $17 per hour. Tunes up, windows down, and hit the gas! Obeying all traffic laws, of course.
- 🚜🚧 The Great Outdoors - Maybe you’re an outdoors person. Don’t worry, there are jobs for you, too! Look at things like lifeguarding, yard work, or construction. Some seasons may be less pleasant than others, but these jobs tend to have a higher pay ceiling depending on what you’re doing. In rural areas, farmers are always looking for help, and often pay well above minimum wage.
🔥Bottom line: The options are almost endless for teens who want to get out into the workforce and bag some cash. As long as you can balance your job and your schoolwork, it’s a great thing - everybody wins!
