Continuing our series of best jobs (you can see the others here), now we wanted to highlight the best healthcare jobs that fill a support role. These folks aren’t the doctors but make no mistake - they fill critical roles throughout our healthcare system in many different ways! Some of them don’t require a lot of training or experience to get into. Others need extensive training, expertise, and education! There’s something for everyone!
Here are Five Fast Facts about the best healthcare support jobs of 2023 (so far):
- 💻 High-Tech - If you like technology, then you’ve got some great options! Look at a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Orthotist/Prosthetist, MRI Tech, or Nuclear Medical Tech. All have a median salary in the upper $70K/year and you’ll sound really cool at dinner parties.
- 🐕 For Animal Lovers - If you’re more into animals than people, there’s something for you, too! A Veterinarian Tech pulls down $37k, but there are 24k projected jobs coming up, so there’s plenty of opportunity. And many warm fuzzies (literally)!
- 🩸 Less Goo - Some people just don’t like the blood, the wounds, or the general…goo of healthcare. That’s okay, it’s not for everyone! But that doesn’t mean you can’t find a great career in healthcare. Look for things like a Medical Secretary or Medical Records Tech. Median salaries range up to almost 50k, and there are tens of thousands of them needed so plenty of opportunities to land one of these great jobs!
- 🚑 Fast Lane - If you fancy excitement, then maybe the life of a Paramedic is for you. The median salary is $47k, and thousands of them are needed. Plus, when else do you get to legally drive that fast?
- 💰 The Big Money - The top money maker on our list is a Genetic Counselor, with a median salary of $80k. It’s a pretty exclusive club, though, with only 500 projected jobs on the horizon.
🔥Bottom line: As we’ve said before, some of these might be better fits for you than others. The point is, there are MANY great jobs out there, for everyone! We want to highlight a wide variety so you all can go get the best possible job (and Paycheck) for you.
