And It Burns, Burns, Burns…

If you’re like countless Americans you’ve experienced job burnout and have probably daydreamed about quitting. Sometimes those daydreams involve 🖕double🖕 middle fingers. Or if you’re lucky, you actually got to quit in a less dramatic way.

But what do you do if you’re burned out and can’t quit your job?

Here’s Five Fast Facts About Surviving Job Burnout:

  1. 🔥 Self Care - Experts agree that practicing some sort of self care is an important step in the process. That includes putting a focus on good sleep habits, nutrition, exercise and even social activities. Take care of yourself, just make sure it’s not in the workplace!
  2. 🆘 Ask For Help - This is another one the experts seem to agree on. Tell your boss, coworkers or family members that you’re at the end of your rope. Powering through the burnout only causes more problems and won’t earn you a place in heaven! Plus, it won’t cost you your job.
  3. 🚒 Stay Social - Taking time away from work (even thinking about work) with family and friends is the perfect way to decompress. Do what you love with the people you love. There’s more to life than work!
  4. 🧯 Set Boundaries - To put it plainly: leave work at work. You should also learn to say no if your schedule is already full and you need time for yourself.
  5. 🧠 Shift Your Mindset - While this may sound like the hippy-dippy option in this list, it’s actually very important. Focus on the positive in your life and in your job. Celebrate your successes. Remember what made you take the job to begin with and look past the negative.

🔥Bottom line: Getting to a place where you feel burned out is easy to do. And once you’re there, it’s a hard place to escape. Re-framing the way you think and how you see your job is clearly the key to keeping you out of there.
