We got a lot of jokes around here! 🎭 However, today we’re putting the chuckles aside to talk about Ohio’s Recovery Friendly Workplace program. ✅
The new initiative aims to push back against the stigma of addiction and gives those in recovery a fighting chance. 💪
Here’s Five Fast Facts on the Ohio Recovery Friendly Workplace program:
- 🙌 Feel Good Goals - The main goal of the new program is to provide good jobs to those in recovery from substance abuse or mental illness. The program will also help to remove the stigma around addiction and mental health issues as well as give Ohio businesses an employment boost.
- 👍 All About Stability - When in recovery, having a stable job helps former addicts maintain responsibility in their lives and feel proud of their accomplishments. Those in favor of the program also hope it will help employees currently struggling feel supported instead of suffering in silence.
- 📋 Training Day- Through the program, businesses will train leadership on the signs of substance abuse and how to help employees seek treatment. They’ll also train on administering naloxone (Narcan), promote critical crisis hotlines, and offer mental health and wellness education programs.
- 💵 Recovery Rewards - In addition to supporting those in need, Ohio’s Recovery Friendly Workplace program helps participating businesses save money. Data shows that a company saves an average of $8,500 for each employee who recovers from addiction.
- 🔢 By the Numbers - How common is addiction in the Buckeye State? Close to one in every five adults in Ohio is suffering from a substance use disorder. In other words, it impacts workplaces far more than you may think.
