A New Law Will Help 300,000 Wisconsinites Save on Prescription Drugs

The Inflation Reduction Act is already helping Wisconsinites! A new report shows just how much we’re saving on prescription drug costs and it’s pretty impressive.

Here’s Five Fast Facts On Prescription Drug Prices in Wisconsin:

  1. 🤮 Take With Food - The Inflation Reduction Act allows Medicare to negotiate prices for expensive drugs. It also provides seniors and people with disabilities who have Medicare with new protections against high prescription costs.
  2. 💉May Cause Drowsiness - Tens of thousands of Wisconsin seniors are already saving from the law’s cap on insulin costs and vaccines. By way of comparison, they spent an average of $628 per person on their insulin costs in 2020.
  3. 💊 Do Not Operate Heavy Machinery - As for prescription drugs, the changes to those benefits should save 234,000 Wisconsin Medicare Part D enrollees a total of $66M.
  4. 🤒 May Cause Constipation - The law caps Medicare beneficiary out-of-pocket costs in Part D at $2,000 a year. The annual cap on out-of-pocket prescription drug costs is expected to save 299,000 Wisconsin Medicare Part D enrollees a total of nearly $142M.
  5. 🤮 Do Not Drink Alcoholic Beverages - Last but not least, nearly 300,000 of us cheeseheads will be pocketing an average of $475 extra every year on prescription meds starting next year. That's a lot of extra cheese for your mac 'n' cheese!

🔥Bottom line: Being sick is no joke, especially when it hits your wallet. With these savings, Wisconsinites can breathe a little easier knowing they can afford the meds they need to stay healthy.
