America added almost 1 million jobs in March. How does it look in Michigan?

The U.S. economy added 916,000 jobs in March, The Labor Department announced Friday, blowing past the 675,000 jobs economists had predicted. The unemployment rate fell from 6.2% to 6%!!!

The trend continues from last month's report, in which 379,000 jobs were added, also exceeding expectations.

According to the labor department the biggest gains were in leisure and hospitality, public and private education, and construction.

Michigan is in a good place, too, as manufacturing continues to grow nationwide and particularly in our state. So, business leaders are hopeful that job growth will continue even if there’s bumps along the way. Plus, vaccinations and warmer temperatures mean people are getting more outside time and that adds to the health and well being of Michigan’s workforce!
