Drinking and Walking Allowed in Parts of Downtown Kalamazoo Due to Pandemic
August 5, 2020
In an interesting turn of events it seems that drinking and walking are the newest thing to help out Kalamazoo businesses. Imagine this: you want to sell alcohol but people need to be “socially distant” from one another. Solution: drink on the move! That’s right folks, Downtown Kalamazoo will now have common areas which allow patrons to buy drinks and roam freely as they enjoy their adult beverages.
The new rules now encompass two dozen businesses in the downtown area. Patrons will be served in disposable containers and just allowed to simply stroll around and enjoy the summer evenings (or mornings in that’s your thing.) City Commissioner Jeanne Hess said the most important point about the effort is “keeping people employed.” And we hope that everyone can enjoy themselves while doing just that!
