Green Means “Go Ahead and Stop Doing That”
July 8, 2020
Folks in PA seem to be getting mixed signals these days. Apparently, officials are worried about people going to eat, drink, and be merry. Fears that COVID-19 cases will come back have prompted officials, like Lehigh County Public Health Director Rick Molchany, to clarify the governor's “Green” phase reopening plan. Molchany said, “People think green is ‘go,′ It sends the wrong symbolic message.”
A prime example of this misunderstanding happened over the weekend when pictures surfaced of a packed bar in Allegheny County. Upon seeing the pics, many local residents were concerned about potential new cases of Big Rona. Restaurants are in a pinch because they are looking to open up in compliance with regulations but are often unable to control their customers actions. Towns like Easton noticed a large increase of bar-hoppers who were not willing to wear masks while dining. Hopefully businesses will operate safely and profitably.
